Hi John,
The US attack on Iran that occurred over the weekend is a dangerous and illegal escalation of violence in the Middle East.
Yet again, the US is backing acts of terrorism by Israel which now threaten to engulf the region in war. Yet again, the British government is trying to excuse the inexcusable, tacitly endorsing the illegal attack, while continuing to supply weapons, economic and political protection to Israel, in spite of its criminal actions.
We demand an end to our government’s complicity in war crimes. Britain must clearly oppose the US and Israel’s illegal aggression on Iran and refrain from any action which supports the attacks.

At the heart of the violence in the Middle East today is the genocide in Gaza, now in its twentieth month. Israel is guilty of the extermination of Palestinians through military attacks, mass starvation, and wholesale destruction of their society. Still, the British government maintains its support for the aggressor, in spite of international legal obligations.
There is no way to secure peace and stability in the region unless we end the genocide and hold those responsible to account.
To this end, Britain’s first action, now long overdue, must be to place a full arms embargo on Israel, along with economic sanctions.
If you haven’t already written to your MP about sanctions on Israel, you can do so here:

It is true that the Iranian government stands accused of serious violations of human rights, both at home and abroad. But that country’s destabilisation will not stop such abuses. Rather, we fear, it will lead to sectarian civil war with death, destruction and impoverishment on a massive scale.
To build a more peaceful world, Britain must stop fuelling injustice and instead consistently support international law, rewarding democracy, peace and justice. At this dangerous moment, we need everyone to raise their voices to end the violence and demand the government urgently changes its behaviour.
Thank you,
Nick Dearden
