Right now, our country is on the brink of another unnecessary war. As Iowans, we understand the weight of reckless actions and care deeply about the lives of our brave troops deployed overseas. Yet, it seems that some leaders think otherwise.

President Trump's recent decision to bomb nuclear sites in Iran with support from Joni Ernst is a repeat of the mistakes in Iraq I protested against over two decades ago. This rush to war not only places nearly 1800 Iowans in the National Guard recently deployed to the Middle East in danger, but also undermines our democratic values by violating the War Powers Act.

As someone who stands for Iowa's interest, I’m calling for answers and accountability. I will never accept a government that prioritizes bombs over healthcare, leaving Iowans vulnerable. It’s time we shift our misplaced priorities back towards the well-being of our citizens.
