John,
At the end of April, Tom McClintock called public health measures intended to limit the spread of a disease that has now claimed over 110,000 American lives, “profoundly un-American.”
Worse, he said relief measures to help thousands of small businesses, workers, frontline responders, and medically vulnerable neighbors were about “gaming the system.”
What I want to know is, what is so “un-American” about protecting lives and livelihoods?
What seems “un-American” to me is Tom McClintock’s continued attempts to cut Social Security and Medicare. He has accused seniors of living high on the hog and “lusting” after the paychecks of younger workers -- when in reality, many seniors are just barely getting by. For a district where more than half of the population is over age 55, Tom McClintock’s priorities are an insult to his older constituents.
Time and again, Tom McClintock puts these vital programs -- which his constituents have earned and paid for every day of their working lives -- on the political chopping block. He’s called Social Security “theft” since the 1970s and has worked just as long to redirect the resources for these programs into the pockets of his special interest donors.
We need a representative who recognizes that these life-saving programs are vital to the well-being and livelihoods of our district. One who will work to honor its promises to American workers.
Tom McClintock does not fight for his constituents -- but I will. Can you chip in $5 or anything you can to help make sure I am the voice fighting for our district this fall?
