Team—
Tomorrow marks three years since the U.S. Supreme Court issued its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, overturning Roe v. Wade and ending the constitutional right to abortion in the United States.
The fallout has been devastating: patients turned away from emergency rooms, providers forced to close their doors, and extreme abortion bans passed in state after state.
This year to mark the Dobbs anniversary, the Center is partnering with Free & Just to bring abortion providers, patients, and others directly impacted by these bans to Capitol Hill to share their stories with lawmakers. Over the past month, we’ve shared some of those stories with you—many painful, all powerful—and proof that when we fight together, we win.
Stories like Dr. Paul Isaacson's in Arizona who turned to the Center when a Civil War-era abortion ban threatened to limit care for his patients. Then came a 15-week ban that put his patients' health and rights at risk. We took the case—and won.
Or in Tennessee, where CHOICES Center for Reproductive Health responded to the fall of Roe by expanding into Illinois. With our legal support, they've continued to provide essential care to patients across state lines.
These victories are possible because of supporters like you.
In a post-Dobbs United States, independent abortion providers and clinics are the last bastion of essential reproductive care for millions of women. These victories represent the difference between someone receiving the care they need or being denied it entirely.
Please, give today to power this work and your gift will be matched 3X. Every dollar helps protect providers, preserve access, and fight back against anti-rights extremists.
We are still here. Still fighting. And we're not backing down.
Onward,
Nancy Northup
