JOHN,
Last night, Donald Trump illegally bombed Iranian nuclear facilities without the consent of Congress―a blatant violation of the U.S. Constitution.
Americans do not want another forever war―spending our tax dollars on more death while families here at home struggle to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads.
Trump is misleading the American people and the world about weapons of mass destruction while supporting war criminal Netanyahu’s unprovoked attacks. Both Trump and Netanyahu are attempting to distract from their unpopular agendas, including slaughtering Palestinians in Gaza and taking healthcare away from tens of millions of people here at home to pay for more tax breaks for billionaires.
To stop another forever war in the Middle East, I have signed onto a bipartisan War Powers Resolution, H.Con.Res.38―introduced by Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY). A similar bipartisan resolution has been introduced in the Senate.
Because both are privileged resolutions, members can force a vote 15 days after introduction, which means the Senate could vote this week and the House the following week.
Add your name to demand the House and Senate each vote to stop Trump from going to war with Iran.
Right now, the Pentagon budget is approaching $1 trillion with half of that going to military contractors. As of last year, more than 50 members of Congress―including members from both sides of the aisle―own stock in military contractors. It’s shameful that my colleagues continue to funnel hundreds of billions of U.S. tax dollars for more bombs and death. Our elected officials should not be able to profit off of war.
That’s why I have introduced the Stop Politicians Profiting from War Act, which would ban members of Congress, their spouses, and their dependent children from having any financial interests in corporations that do business with the U.S. Department of Defense―including banning members from trading defense stocks.
There are too many warmongers in Congress who profit from sending our children to war. Many are drooling at the opportunity to start another forever war.
Trump and Netanyahu’s attacks are not based on national security. They are about distracting from their deeply unpopular agendas and staying in power.
Add your name now to demand Congress stop Donald Trump from entering the U.S. into another forever war in the Middle East.
While Trump is listening to war criminal Netanyahu instead of the American people, Congress has the authority and obligation to stop this unconstitutional act of war.
Always serving you,
Rashida
