Team,

When our census is under attack, our democracy is under attack. That’s because our fight for fair maps doesn’t start through legal battles or in state redistricting commissions — it starts with the census.

Every ten years, the census ensures an accurate count of our population and demographics. The data then determines how our communities are accounted for, and ultimately, how our political power is distributed — shaping local representation and congressional seats.

That’s why anti-democracy forces have been laying the groundwork to undermine it. By manipulating the count behind the maps, they can silence communities and unfairly consolidate their power and representation.

Since Trump took office in January, his administration and radicals around the country have made deliberate attacks on the census. He rescinded an order that affirmed how everyone in the country should be counted. We’ve seen massive data become inaccessible to the public, wiped from the Census Bureau website. To top it off, some extremist attorney generals have sued to stop the 2030 census from counting all U.S. residents.

Without an accurate population count, the administration can succeed at excluding traditionally undercounted people like communities of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and Native communities.

To put it plainly: This would make it impossible to create fair maps that truly represent the communities that live there. The census is the foundation for redistricting, and right now, it’s under attack again — so we’re sounding the alarm.

Team, we need folks like you to power our work for fair maps and accurate representation — that includes our efforts to mobilize communities in demanding a fair census. Can you make a donation to All On The Line today? → [link removed]

According to recent population estimates from the Census Bureau, the makeup of the House of Representatives could significantly change, with the South potentially gaining NINE seats — plus, these gains would be predominantly from communities of color across Florida, Texas, and North Carolina. These are some of the states where we’ve seen repeated efforts to gerrymander and silence marginalized communities — so we have to expect the attacks incoming.

Team, this is not the first time that the census has been under attack. And it’s certainly not the last. As long as anti-democracy forces exist, we must remain committed to protecting the integrity of the census and its data.

Undermining the integrity of the census data and eroding the trust of the American people is part of a coordinated, extreme ideological attack on our democracy. In 2020, our movement was able to help defend the 2020 Census from the first Trump administration’s attempts to distort the count with a manipulative and racist citizenship question — and we’re prepared to defend the 2030 Census with you by our side.

All On The Line will not let assaults on the census stand, and we know you won’t either. Can you make a contribution of $15 or whatever you can to help stop anti-democracy extremists from manipulating the system in their favor? → [link removed]

Thanks for your help,
