Now, Trump and his inner circle are pushing for war with Iran. But this time, there’s a way to stop it: Republican House Rep. Thomas Massie and Democratic Senator Tim Kaine are lead sponsors of War Power Resolutions in Congress that puts the brakes on unauthorized war, and reclaims democracy from imperial presidency.

These resolutions reassert Congress’ exclusive constitutional authority to declare war. It demands public debate, real accountability, and a vote before our nation commits to another conflict. It makes one thing clear: no president, including Donald Trump, gets to sidestep the people’s voice and unilaterally start a war with Iran.

We cannot let the most dangerous decision any government can make, choosing war, become the private privilege of any one man. That’s why every member of Congress must vote YES.

Trump has already shown he’ll ignore norms, laws, and institutions if left unchecked. He’s attacked Iran before without Congressional approval. What’s to stop him from doing it again?

Only a Congress that reclaims its constitutional authority.

This resolution also sends a message far beyond Iran: Presidents are not kings. War powers aren’t personal toys. They belong to Congress and, by extension, the people. If we allow Trump to act unilaterally, we erode the very foundation of our democracy.

We cannot let the executive branch trample over constitutional limits. We must draw a hard line here and now, and say not on our watch.
