POLITICO: Trump administration slapped with ‘impoundment’ violation for freezing library, museum funding
"By freezing money that’s supposed to flow through the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Trump administration violated the 51-year-old law barring presidents from withholding federal dollars without approval from Congress…"

john,
To nobody's surprise, the Trump administration has been caught— again —violating the law by freezing critical federal funding without congressional approval.
This time it was money set aside for libraries and museums, vital community institutions that educate, preserve history, and serve everyone. This marks the second time Trump has been hit with an impoundment violation.
Let's be clear: This is a serious breach of the Constitution’s separation of powers. Despite what he may think, he's not a king, he doesn’t get to decide where this money goes. That’s Congress’s job. Our founders were crystal clear: Congress holds the power of the purse, not sitting presidents.
That’s how our democracy ensures no one person— no matter how powerful or self-interested —can hijack the system. But, yet again, Trump is testing those boundaries. And make no mistake, he won’t stop unless we stop him. That means flipping the House in 2026 and putting a check on this president. We need representatives who will defend democracy, not rubber-stamp authoritarian power grabs.
Will you chip in right now to help us take back the House and protect our democratic institutions? >> [link removed]
