Some people count Iowa out. Despite our history with Democrats in office, the last few cycles have shifted the narrative. You have probably heard things like “Iowa could never flip back to blue” or “Democrats don’t stand a chance in Iowa.”
That couldn’t be further from the truth. And do you know how we know? Because activists, volunteers, campaigns and county parties are working across the state for change.
For the first time in five years, IDP has an active county party in every county in the state! This is huge — county parties are the only Democratic organizations that exist everywhere, including in Iowa.
Even in the reddest parts of our state, we have Democrats organizing, hosting events, talking to Iowans, and making an impact. Our county parties don’t need layers of oversight, they need resources to expand their reach.
An ongoing project of ours is to build an organization of county elected officials alongside our state legislative groups to ensure we raise up voices from across Iowa, not just Des Moines. There’s no winning in Iowa if we don’t have a strong Democratic party focused on all races up and down the ballot.
Will you chip in $25 today to help IDP and Iowa’s county parties keep hustling, organizing, and winning? We couldn’t have outperformed by 25 points in all of our special elections this year without our local efforts and this grassroots team.
Your grassroots support is powering our movement here on the ground.
With gratitude,
Rita
