I’ll be honest with you: running in a race this competitive means I have to ask a lot of this grassroots team.
But I also believe that, if I’m going to ask for your support, then I owe you an explanation about why our campaign deserves your time, let alone your hard-earned money. That’s why, earlier this week, I emailed you about the polling showing this race is a virtual dead heat, and also about the enormous differences between my agenda for New Jersey and my right-wing opponent’s.
If that tells you all you need to know, I would be grateful for anything you can pitch in to help us break the statistical tie we’re facing. [[link removed]] But if you need to know more before committing, then I’d like to take a second and talk about the values and the life experience that I will bring to the table as New Jersey’s next governor.
The first time I took an oath to defend the Constitution, I was a teenager entering the Naval Academy. Ever since then, that oath has been the north star for everything I do.
So in 1994, I graduated as part of the first Naval Academy class to include women eligible for combat roles. And I spent nearly a decade on active duty in the Navy, leading missions in the Middle East and Europe as a helicopter pilot and serving as a Russian policy officer.

When I came home, I attended law school and went on to serve in a new way — this time, as a reentry and outreach coordinator and a federal prosecutor taking on fraud, building trust between law enforcement and our communities, and working to keep illegal weapons off New Jersey’s streets.
Then Donald Trump was elected. And I watched him attack every value that I had spent my life fighting for. So I decided to run for office myself. I won a longshot race in a Republican-held congressional district, and then got right to work fighting for the people of New Jersey.
But I’m not content with just taking on fights for our community. I’m here to win them. I’m proud of what I’ve gotten done in Congress to help New Jersey families — including delivering critical federal funding for the Gateway Tunnel Project. In fact, I had the distinction of being named the most effective member of New Jersey’s House delegation in my second term for my work.
Now, with National Republicans attacking our families’ rights and freedoms every day, and with so many politicians, like my GOP opponent, willingly bending the knee, we need a governor who’s ready to stand tough — who’s going to put loyalty to our Constitution and our community before loyalty to any politician or party.
And we need a governor who will work to not just talk about the problems we face, like unaffordable housing, health care, groceries, and child care, but actually deliver solutions to make things better.
That’s the kind of governor I intend to be for New Jersey. And if those values align with yours, then I am humbly asking you to pitch in and help me win this race — because honestly, we’re in for a competitive, expensive, difficult fight and we need all the help we can get. [[link removed]]
