Last week, the world watched in shock as the Israeli government launched airstrikes targeting Iran, triggering what Iran is calling a "declaration of war."1 The increased tensions between the two countries have sparked back-and-forth escalations that have put the lives of both Israeli and Iranian civilians at risk.
As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pressures President Donald Trump to intervene in the conflict—a move that would be devastating—it is imperative that Americans make it clear that we do NOT support the U.S. being entangled in a war with Iran.

Following Israel's airstrikes in Tehran, the two countries have launched attacks against each other, killing hundreds of Iranian citizens and dozens of Israeli citizens. Millions of Iranian citizens have been forced into air raid shelters.2 And people throughout the Middle East now face uncertainty, scared for their safety and the safety of their families and loved ones.
Everyone deserves to live freely, without the ongoing threat of violence and harm. The United States involvement in a war with Iran would serve only to further destabilize the global order, escalate existing tensions, and lead to more lives lost.

Prime Minister Netanyahu is urging the U.S. to join the war in Iran—a move that elected leaders across the political spectrum strongly denounce.3 And Trump's response over the past few days has caused members of Congress to worry enough to introduce legislation to avoid the U.S. from getting involved.4
Representative Thomas Massie, a staunch Republican from Kentucky, has introduced the War Powers Resolution, which would require Trump to get congressional approval to enter the Israel-Iran war.5 The resolution has bipartisan support, with Representative Ro Khanna, a California Democrat, as the co-lead sponsor and members like Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez vocalizing their support.6 And Senator Bernie Sanders introduced the No War Against Iran Act in the Senate.7
