Friend, I have a story I’d like to share:
In 2016, I needed to have surgery to save my kidneys.
It was a risky and rare procedure and the surgical technique had only been created five years earlier. I knew it was a gamble, but inaction wasn’t on the table if I wanted to stay alive.
I also knew this procedure could put me in debt for the rest of my life.
After the operation, I’ll never forget that first medical bill sitting on the counter. It took me a few weeks before I had the strength to open it.
It was more than an entire month’s salary! Even with my insurance covering a lot of it.
Point being, it took me a long time to be able to pay it off.
Friend, nobody should go into debt or bankruptcy because they get sick, but far too many in our community are having their necessary coverage stripped by Trump’s awful budget bill.
Republicans and special interests are trying to strip healthcare from millions of Americans. It’s one of the realities that drove me to run for Congress, and it’s a fight I take extremely seriously.
I will always fight back against those who put profits over people, and that's a big reason why I’m being attacked. We’re coming up on a major FEC deadline in just under 10 days. If you’re able, please donate $3 today.

People can’t focus on making a living when they feel sick, either physically or mentally. And I’ve been on the receiving end of bill collectors. They take a huge toll that weighs heavily on mental health. And lest we forget, still the pain of getting over a life-saving surgery.
We need to be lifting people up with quality, affordable health care. I believe it’s essential to providing opportunity for all.
Everyone has the right to be well, and that means receiving care that doesn’t cause financial jeopardy.
Thanks for listening and understanding! -Eric
