JD Vance blows racist dog whistle in pathetic attack on Democratic senator

Vice President and cosplay hillbilly JD Vance dropped by Los Angeles on Friday to take pot shots at Democrats at the state, local, and national levels and laughably accused top California officials of encouraging violent protesters. Vance did not miss the chance to blow his trusty dog whistle, calling out Sen. Alex Padilla — whom he referred to as "José" — for "political theater." Political theater, eh? Like calling a Hispanic lawmaker "José?" When asked for clarification, Vance spokesperson Taylor Van Kirk said the vice president "must have mixed up two people who have broken the law." Get it?! Brown people break the law. Because they're brown. What a dick.

Take Action: Demand Trump stop ICE raids and military escalation against protesters!

Top scientist takes on the GOP's crusade of ignorance

Jasmine Clark for Georgia: Trump, RFK Jr., and the rest of their cronies in Congress have taken a chainsaw to our scientific research, public health, and climate initatives and are waging an all out-war on science and the truth. PhD scientist Dr. Jasmine Clark has had enough, and she's running for Congress in order to restore sanity to the government and make America a global leader in scientific development once again. Will you chip in to help jump-start her campaign and flip the House blue?

Proud Boys say Trump will lose their support if he goes to war with Iran
The virulently racist, right-wing extremist group issued its own "stand back and stand by" order to Donald Trump, warning the MAGA cult leader that he risks losing their continued support if the US were to become involved in the exploding conflict between Israel and Iran. The neo-fascist militant group did not mince words with their demands, writing: "America First does not mean war for Israel. Donald Trump, focus on the health of our nation, period. We are crumbling. We are crippled with debt with no plan for a solution. Be the President you ran as."

Take Action: Tell Congress: No strikes on Iran!

Judge orders Columbia University student activist Mahmoud Khalil released after more than three months in ICE jail
In a huge blow to Donald Trump's anti-immigrant crusade, a federal judge ordered the release of Mahmoud Khalil on bail from an immigration detention center in Louisiana, where the Columbia University student activist had been locked up for more than three months for his campus activism against Israel’s brutal war in Gaza. During a bail hearing on Friday, New Jersey District Judge Michael Farbiarz said Khalil poses no danger to the community and is not a flight risk. "Period, full stop," he said. The judge said it is "highly, highly unusual" for Donald Trump’s administration to continue holding him in detention, with no evidence he committed any crime, and after the judge’s determination that his detention and threat of removal from the country over First Amendment-protected speech is unconstitutional. Hmmm, "highly, highly unusual" is one way to put it. "Fascist" would also work.

Minnesota Democratic lawmaker wounded in assassination attempt details moments leading up to brutal attack

Minnesota state Sen. John Hoffman, who was wounded after a radical, right-wing gunman dressed as a police officer attacked him inside his home last week, on Thursday recalled the moments leading up to the shooting, calling on Americans to "work together to return to a level of civility that allows us all to live peacefully." Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, who are still recovering from the injuries they suffered in the shooting, said they returned home that evening accompanied by their adult daughter, Hope, after attending a dinner hosted by the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party on June 13. "At approximately 2:00am, we were all awakened by the sounds of pounding on the front door and shouts of someone seeking entry, identifying himself as a police officer," the Hoffmans said in a statement. When the door was opened, the three of them were standing in the entryway. The couple said the lawmaker lunged at the man as soon as he saw a gun pointed at him. John Hoffman was shot nine times. "As John fell, Yvette reached out to push the man and shut the door, succeeding before she was also hit eight times by gunfire," the statement noted. Despite being shot a combined 17 times, the Hoffmans miraculously survived the attack.

Senate parliamentarian nixes key pieces of Tim Scott’s megabill proposal
The GOP's efforts to pack Donald Trump's Big Ugly Bill That Really Sucks with ideological pork hit a snag on Friday when the Senate parliamentarian took an axe to a number of their most ridiculous proposals. Provisions that will NOT be making it into the bill include efforts to zero out funding for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, slash some Federal Reserve employees’ pay, cut the Treasury’s Office of Financial Research, and dissolve the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. The Senate Banking Committee, led by South Carolina's Tim Scott, now has to go back to the drawing bill and find another way to cut $1 billion from the budget. The simplest solution, of course, would be to cut the tax cuts for the ultrawealthy.
