Hey folks, it’s Mandela Barnes, the former Lt. Governor of Wisconsin.

I’m thrilled to announce my endorsement of Juliana Stratton for U.S. Senate.

I decided to get involved in this race because I believe Juliana is the exact kind of leader we need in this moment of crisis.

She’s a trailblazer, and as Lt. Governor of Illinois, she’s done something most politicians in Washington have failed to do — deliver meaningful progress for working families.

Juliana helped raise the minimum wage, enshrine women’s rights into law, invested in infrastructure, banned assault weapons, and lowered costs for families.

Juliana will bring a fresh perspective to Washington. She was raised in a working-class family on the south side of Chicago. Her mom, like my mom, was a teacher.

But I know firsthand that the reality for groundbreaking candidates who are “different” is that the political pundit class scrutinizes us far more closely. We’re constantly asked if we have what it takes to win.

The truth is, people are really asking, “Can you raise enough money?” Because these Senate races, even in Illinois, are outrageously expensive. So many candidates who don’t fit the status quo — candidates who are Black, Brown, working class, LGBTQ+, disabled — have to work twice as hard to prove ourselves.

So I am asking you personally to pitch in to Juliana’s campaign and send a powerful message that the people have her back. Her first official FEC deadline is quickly approaching, and it’s going to be a major test of her campaign.
