Standing With Israel: Thom Emphasizes Support for President Trump as Iranian
Conflict Escalates
This week, Iran launched another round of attacks on Israeli targets,
prompting swift retaliation from Israel.
Thom has long warned about the dangers posed by the Iranian regime and stands
firmly with President Trump in making sure we never allow Iran to get nuclear
weapons. With the Iranian government fueling terrorism and threatening Israel,
it’s clear that the U.S. must double down on its commitment to Israel’s
security.
Thom continues to be a steadfast advocate for strong foreign policy that
supports our allies, confronts our adversaries, and makes clear that threats to
democracy and peace will not be tolerated.
North Carolina News: Thom Secures Grant for Charlotte Douglas International
Airport
This week, Thom announced he secured a $21.5 million grant for Charlotte
Douglas International Airport to construct a new 10,000-foot runway.
The grant from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement
Program will help the airport accommodate more aircraft operations, reducing
delays and improving the passenger experience.
“Charlotte Douglas continues to be one of the busiest airports in the world,
and as air traffic increases, we must work to ensure airplanes have minimal
delays,” Thom said. “This grant to construct a new 10,000-foot runway will
significantly reduce congestion, improve operations, and enhance the overall
travel experience for millions of passengers who rely on Charlotte as a
transportation hub.”
Legislative Highlights: Thom Announces New Bipartisan Support for Legislation
to Restore American Innovation
In a show of bipartisan support, more senators have joined the Patent
Eligibility Restoration Act (PERA) as cosponsors.
This legislation will restore patent eligibility to important inventions
across many fields while also resolving legitimate concerns over the patenting
of mere ideas, the discovery of what already exists in nature, and social and
cultural content that everyone agrees is beyond the scope of the patent system.
It also affirms the basic principle that the patent system is central to
promoting technology-based innovation.
This legislation reflects Thom’s ongoing commitment to protecting American
innovation and ensuring the U.S. remains competitive on the global stage. As
countries like China and members of the EU strengthen their intellectual
property systems, this bill ensures that American inventors aren’t left
behind—particularly in cutting-edge fields like artificial intelligence and
diagnostic medicine.
As Thom said, “We cannot allow the U.S. to fall behind on the global stage,
and I’m glad to see more of my Senate colleagues recognize this pressing need.”
