“They’re trying to be a little sneaky…”
That’s what one administrator at the University of North Carolina at
Wilmington told Accuracy in Media’s undercover investigators about Diversity,
Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at the school.
Asher Pershin, the Center Coordinator for the Mohin-Scholz LGBTQIA Resource
Center, explained to investigators how the school is trying to be “sneaky” in
order to evade the University of North Carolina Board of Governors’ ban on DEI.
Part of being “sneaky,” according to Pershin, means the “verbiage” would
simply just be changed around DEI work.
In terms of DEI positions, Pershin said no one was actually fired.
Ashlee Fleming, Upperman African American Cultural Center Coordinator,
confirmed this by saying, in terms of DEI jobs, “So, you can kind of see some
that were eliminated, but technically ‘replaced,” and that “new-ish” job
positions were created.

AIM’s investigation into UNC Wilmington is just the latest investigation into
the University of North Carolina system. AIM has exposed DEI at UNC Charlotte,
UNC Asheville, and Western Carolina University already – and helped oust
radical administrators.
But that’s not enough. Go to SaveNCSchools.com <[link removed]> to
let the Board of Governors know more needs to be done to combat DEI.
