John -
Did we just take a time machine back 100 years? It sure feels that way
because we’re sending you a(nother) email about coal. Trust us, we’re
sorry too.
Unfortunately, Donald Trump is trying to drag us into the past by bringing
back coal — in the year 2025.
It’s universally known that burning coal is the dirtiest and most
expensive source of energy. Ratepayers have been stuck with the bill and
the deadly health impacts of coal pollution for years.^1
We've already sent thousands of letters to Congress demanding they do
everything they can to stop Trump’s coal plans. Can you help amplify our
message by sharing it with your social media network?

Coal power plants account for more than half of all carbon emissions from
the power sector in the U.S., but generate less than 20% of our
electricity. They dirty the air we breathe — especially in the low-income,
Black, Brown, and Native communities where coal plants are most often
built.
And not only is coal disastrous for the climate, but the economics don’t
shake out. Coal is unequivocally more expensive than wind and solar.^2
As a so-called “businessman,” Trump should look at the numbers and not
drive up electricity costs for Americans who are already struggling to
make ends meet.
Instead, he’s propping up a dying industry to satisfy his billionaire
friends while throwing our climate and health under the bus. But we won’t
let Trump drag us back to coal.
Congress has the power to act — but they need to feel the pressure. Please
share our message on social media so our leaders hear us loud and clear.
