Friend --

The Green Party National Black Caucus honors the legacy and collective power of the community and has been building up to today's celebration of Juneteenth (June 19).

Juneteenth recognizes the time when freed slaves in Texas were finally aware of their freedom and the end of the “Civil War”. That day came nearly two and one half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

This day is celebrated with pride and symbolizes the strength of community, unity of spirit, and resistance of a people who would be free. In 2020, in the aftermath of centuries of slavery and its legacy of institutionalized racism that has gripped our nation and the world, we boldly protest and demand the end of systemic demonization and disenfranchisement of Black Lives.

Celebrate Juneteenth with a contribution to the Green Party. <[link removed]> The parties of War and Wall Street are also the parties who have propped up the police state, the prison-industrial complex and the economic exploitation of Black and Brown communities for generations. The Green Party refuses all corporate money to refute that racist power structure, but that means we rely on everyday folks like you to contribute. Please give today. <[link removed]>Join us tonight on the National Black Caucus Facebook Page at 8:45pm ET for a Remembrance and Celebration Ceremony Livestream. <[link removed]> We will take a moment to pause and reflect on the sacrifices of our elders and ancestors and the lives lost in the struggle for full equality and equity in the United States.

Then at 9pm we will be joined by Brandon Anderson, founder and president of Raheem, an independent service for reporting police conduct in the U.S.

Our Juneteenth broadcasts will continue through the weekend, including Saturday night's essential discussion on "The Financial Impact on Black and Brown Americans after COVID-19." See our Juneteenth schedule for details. <[link removed]>

Witnessing Juneteenth receive more recognition in the media and in our society this year has been encouraging. Symbolic recognition of Juneteenth as a holiday carries real weight. But the real meaning of Juneteenth is about continuing the work of dismantling the systemic, violent and material oppression of people under white supremacy, colonialism and capitalism.

Support the Green Party with your contribution today so we can win that fight. <[link removed]>

P.S. Make sure to register for the Green Party's Annual National Meeting and Presidential Nominating Convention! <[link removed]>All convention delegates must register and all registrants will gain access to leadership and skill-building workshops and other important party-building events. Producing a 100% online convention in response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been an immense challenge. One way to keep the Green Party strong is by becoming a Monthly Sustainer — your monthly contribution will have a huge impact! <[link removed]>
