Created by Donald Trump through executive order, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) masquerades as a cost-saving agency. In reality, it’s a shadow government that’s unaccountable, unelected, and unconstitutional.
So while Elon Musk may have left Washington, his most dangerous legacy still threatens our democracy.
DOGE has already fired a quarter-million federal workers, shredded USAID’s humanitarian programs, and seized access to personal data across Treasury, Education, and Labor. All of this under Musk’s direction, without Senate confirmation, congressional oversight, or a shred of democratic legitimacy.
This is corruption cloaked in efficiency. And while Musk may no longer hold the title, DOGE still operates, with full access to federal agencies and zero checks on its power. Legal experts are raising the alarm that DOGE’s very existence violates the Constitution’s Appointments Clause and separation of powers. Yet Congress sits silent.
We need action, not hand-wringing. Tell Congress to dismantle DOGE fully, finally, and without delay.
Every day DOGE remains in power, another scientist is pushed out, another aid shipment is canceled, and another vulnerable community is betrayed.
The courts may still be reviewing its legality, but Congress doesn’t need to wait. It can vote to defund and dismantle DOGE today.
We must preserve the core principles of American democracy, from checks and balances to public accountability and governance by the people, not by billionaire cronies with executive orders in their pockets.
It’s time to reassert that America is not for sale. That our agencies are not playthings. And that no one, not Musk, not Trump, gets to rewrite the Constitution to suit their whims.
Tell Congress to shut down DOGE. Restore democratic accountability before it’s too late.
