On Tuesday, my Senate colleagues and I passed the GENIUS Act. Cryptocurrencies are on the rise in the world, and we need to ensure that the United States is leading from the front. The bill is simple: protect consumers and protect the market. Ensuring users can be repaid if there's a loss and preventing terrorism and money laundering capabilities is a no-brainer. With these barriers and guardrails in place, this industry has a historic opportunity to thrive.
On Wednesday, my friend, Department of Defense (DoD) Secretary Pete Hegseth, appeared before the Senate Armed Services Committee for a hearing regarding the DoD's Fiscal Year 2026 budget requests. Rather than focusing on defense policy, my Senate Democratic colleagues took their time for political theater. In my remarks, I point out their hypocrisy for their refusal to hold the Biden administration accountable for anything over the last four years, including the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan and the cover-up of Joe Biden’s cognitive decline.

We had a busy week here in Washington. Leader Thune and the Senate GOP are continuing the long process of confirming President Trump’s highly qualified nominees—of which there are still around 1,400 to go—and we passed crypto currency protection legislation to set the United States up as an ideal country for the industry to thrive. Lastly, we’re standing by this administration and our ally, Israel. Republican or Democrat, we should all be able to agree that Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon would be a disaster. Thank goodness we have a president with a backbone to put America First.
