Team,
Last Thursday, along with Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Chuy García, I introduced legislation that would ban the use of tear gas and any chemical weapons by law enforcement.
The use of tear gas against peaceful protesters in the streets of the US, while it is banned in international warfare, is shameful — there is no place for a weapon like this in the hands of any law enforcement agency.
We need to move quickly to pass a ban on tear gas and other chemical weapons. Will you sign on to join me and AOC in supporting this legislation?
Protesters across the nation have been put at greater risk as they are tear gassed at peaceful rallies and marches — just days ago, Trump and the militarized police used tear gas to clear the way for a staged photo in front of a church.
This cannot be a crowd-control tactic any longer. It’s dangerous and reckless to use tear gas — especially on peaceful protesters — and especially as we face a respiratory pandemic.
Will you add your name, alongside mine, in support of this legislation?
Thank you for your support.
Mark
