![]() Hey folks, it’s John. Can I tell you one of my favorite stories from our nation’s founding history? It’s relevant – I promise. It’s the story of American Revolutionary War General Nathanael Greene. It was August of 1780, and the Continental Army, outnumbered ten to one, had endured several defeats and were being worn down in the South by British forces. That is, until General Greene took the reins. Nathanael Greene inspired his command under the mantra “we fight, get beat, rise, and fight again” and revitalized the American Revolution in the South. He was bold and creative, using strategic retreats and inventing guerrilla tactics to exhaust the British, force their surrender at Yorktown, and ultimately, give the colonies’ their independence. “We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again.” I think about this quote often as we face the battles of our time. The fight to save millions of peoples’ health care, or the battle to keep public lands in public hands. And the day-to-day struggles working people face when just trying to make ends meet. Every day, no matter what, we have to rise up and fight again until we win – and I’m committed as Colorado’s Senator to doing just that. But I can’t do this alone.
