![]() Donald Trump is hell-bent on ripping resources away from kids and families — all to pay for the costs of a multi-trillion dollar tax handout to the ultra-wealthy. For months, I’ve heard my Republican colleagues claim to be “pro-family.” But if Republicans actually wanted to make life easier for regular families in Colorado and across the country, they would invest in affordable child care, not gut it. And they would expand access to affordable health care programs like Medicaid, not rip it away from the 40% of kids and pregnant women who rely on it. Listen, I’m a working mom of two young boys, so I know just how difficult it is to find safe and affordable child care, especially in rural areas. But things are about to get so much worse for families across Colorado. I visited Leadville earlier this year, and families told me that if Head Start funding goes away, the only preschool in the county will shutter its doors. That’s all because of Donald Trump. As a mom, I’m crushed when I think about the kids who will be left behind just so millionaires and billionaires can get even richer. The American people deserve far better. That’s why I’ll continue to fight in Congress for paid family leave, increased access to child care to support moms and families, and to ease the cost of child care on working families.
