Right now, the Trump administration is using Los Angeles as a test case.

They want to see how far they can go to take authority away from our local leaders — and in effect, from LA voters — by deploying the National Guard on our citizens and threatening our elected officials.

Washington has deployed at least 4,100 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to respond to a few blocks in downtown LA. That’s more troops than there currently are in Iraq and Syria.

Meanwhile, Angelenos who are just trying to live their lives, go to work, and care for their families are paralyzed by fear.

I have been joined by hundreds of mayors across the country in calling out this administration’s overreach — and one thing is very clea: we are strongest when we stand together united.

We must stand unified against these attacks on our city and the people who live here. If you’re with me, will you add your name to my petition calling for an end to these raids and this administration’s overreach now?
