John,

It’s not a matter of if — it’s when. Any day now, conservatives could bring one of the most anti-voter pieces of legislation in decades to the Senate floor for a vote.

They’ve already tried to pass it by unanimous consent, an attempt to ram it through without a recorded vote.

It’s no wonder they’d rather avoid putting their names on it. This is an extreme bill that would restrict access to the ballot box for millions of Americans by upending our voter registration process and requiring overly burdensome and costly forms of ID just to register to vote.

This bill could come up again for a Senate vote any day now — and we absolutely must defeat it. All On The Line is mobilizing Americans to demand their senators reject this bill. But we need a surge of grassroots support to ramp up this critical work.

We’re not overstating it when we say this bill would put up significant barriers to vote for someone you know, including:

• Married women who have changed their last names and don’t have a birth certificate with their current legal name.

• Military voters who will no longer be able to use their military ID to register.

• Americans who don’t have a passport, who are more likely to come from lower-income families.

• Transgender Americans who have changed their legal names.

• Rural voters who often rely on online and mail-in voter registration.

• People who have lost documents to natural disasters, and so many more.

Anti-democracy forces argue that this bill was created to protect the voting process. But the truth is undeniable: The purpose of the SAVE Act is to make it more difficult for certain citizens to vote.

To make things worse, legislators at the state level are quietly pushing copycat versions. And in Michigan, extreme groups are pushing a ballot initiative that requires proof of citizenship for voting. While the national legislation gets the most attention, All On The Line is also working around the country to stop any attempt to take power away from the people.

We need all hands on deck to stop the SAVE Act and push back on voter suppression in all its forms. Can we count on you to make a donation to help fund our campaign to protect our democracy and defend free and fair elections? → [link removed]

Thank you,

The All On The Line Team
