I came to Congress to stand up for equality — for everyone.
I came to Congress to stand up for equality — for everyone.
As one of the few openly gay members of Congress, I know what it means to fight for recognition, dignity, and the basic protections that so many Americans still don’t have.
That’s why my colleagues and I have reintroduced the Equality Act: landmark legislation that would finally ensure LGBTQ+ Americans are protected from discrimination under federal law — in housing, education, employment, public accommodations, and more.
No one should be denied their rights because of who they are or who they love.
But right now anti-LGBTQ+ attacks are on the rise — in state legislatures, Congress, and the courts. Without federal protections, too many people are increasingly at risk.
Passing the Equality Act isn’t just necessary — it’s long overdue. There’s no excuse for inaction. We need to get this over the finish line. There is simply too much at stake.
Join me in calling on Congress to pass the Equality Act now. Add your name to my petition today to demonstrate our overwhelming support for equality for all.

Together we can show there’s a groundswell of support behind this bill — and that the American people will not accept anything less than full equality. Let’s get this done.
With gratitude,
Chris Pappas
