155 years ago today, on June 19, 1865, enslaved people of African descent in Texas were told that the civil war was over and slavery had ended in the United States — two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. But the fight for freedom continues today. Planned Parenthood stands with the Movement for Black Lives because we know that over every system that governs us falls the ugly shadow of white supremacy. These systems must undergo drastic changes in order for us to fully realize our mission of reproductive freedom for all. So today on Juneteenth I’m personally asking you to help us continue the urgent and necessary work of liberation. Join the Movement for Black Lives to take action on Juneteenth and beyond:
