ICE was created out of fear and xenophobia after 9/11 — designed from the start to police, surveil, and punish immigrant communities. For over two decades, ICE has done just that and more, separating families and detaining hundreds of thousands of people, often in horrific conditions that have led to abuse and even death. Since Trump took office, ICE’s operations have escalated to new extremes, operating under a mandate to ramp up mass deportations, meet exorbitant arrest quotas, and terrorize immigrant communities. ICE agents are entering homes without warrants, abducting people off the streets, and sending them to foreign prisons — often disguising their identities with masks to avoid accountability. This egregious abuse of power undermines the very core of our democratic values, including the right to due process. The scenes from raids across Los Angeles are a chilling reminder of what’s at stake and what we could lose if we don’t stand up for our rights and each other. Already sent an email? Send another!
