Protester Mocks, Prevents Working Mom From Supporting Family

By: Emily Washburn

Anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) protesters blocked a New York City mom from driving to work last Tuesday, a now-viral video shows, then mocked her for caring about her job.

Turning Point USA contributor Savanah Hernandez captured the maddening interaction at a busy intersection, when a woman got out of her car to reason with two protesters blocking the road.

“I have a kid!” she pleads. “If I don’t get to work …” One of the protesters cuts her off.

“I know. And these people,” the woman says, gesturing to the protesters, “are having their children taken, their parents taken.”

“But what about my kid?” The beleaguered mom asks frantically. “If I lose my job, then what happens to my kid?”

Oklahoma Governor Declares June ‘Month for Life’ for Second Year
By: Nicole Hunt

For the second year in a row, Oklahoma’s governor has declared June to be the “Month for Life,” reaffirming the state’s commitment to valuing human life from conception and recognizing the state’s annual “March for Life,” which also takes place in June.

The proclamation coincides with the three-year anniversary since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

The proclamation emphasizes, “The inherent dignity and value of every human life are fundamental principles that shape our society.”

It continues,

“The Month for Life provides an opportunity for Oklahoma to foster a culture of life and build a future where the unborn are respected and protected from the moment of conception.”

The official order also recognizes the Oklahoma March for Life which is scheduled for June 7 at the Oklahoma state capitol.

The declaration celebrates the important work of the March for Life in not only galvanizing hundreds of thousands of people to demonstrate peacefully for life-affirming laws, but also their work to advance a culture of life through education, outreach, advocacy and policy.

In a post on X, Oklahoma’s governor wrote:

“It’s simple: Life begins at conception. We’re committed to supporting moms every step. God has a plan for every life.”

Brief Filed at SCOTUS Defending Christian Counselor’s Free Speech
By: Zachary Mettler

Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) attorneys filed their opening brief with the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday, defending Colorado licensed counselor Kaley Chiles’ constitutional right to free speech.

Chiles, a devout Christian, wants to help her clients with issues they’re facing — including unwanted sexual identity confusion and same-sex attraction.

Chiles doesn’t force her beliefs on her clients, nor does she engage in unethical counseling practices.

Nonetheless, Colorado’s Minor Conversion Therapy Law, enacted in 2019, censors her speech and forces her to deliver only government-approved messages on homosexuality and transgenderism to her minor clients.

Under Colorado’s law, Chiles cannot help her clients live out a biblical sexual ethic; she cannot help minors struggling with unwanted sexual identity confusion or same-sex attraction embrace their bodily reality as a male or female or seek freedom from homosexuality.

Chiles can only steer her clients towards a transgender identity or homosexuality — something that violates both her faith and her right to free speech.

To protect her faith, her career, and her livelihood, Chiles filed a lawsuit arguing the statue violates the First Amendment’s Free Speech Clause. She moved to enjoin the law as applied to her counseling.

Pro-Life Ohio Man Sues for Unfair Arrest Outside Abortion Clinic
By: Meredith Godwin

An Ohio man is suing the city of Cuyahoga Falls for violating his First Amendment rights after police arrested him outside a local abortion clinic last December.

Three days after Christmas, Zachary Knotts and his wife peacefully promoted pro-life values on a public sidewalk near Northeast Ohio Women’s Center.

To share his evangelical message, Knotts spoke into a battery-powered megaphone, which had previously been cleared for public use by the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department.

Abortion clinic escorts quickly swarmed Knotts, shoving umbrellas in his face and drowning his words with whistles and kazoos.

Despite the escorts’ repeated noise and harassment, police only arrested Knotts for violation of the Cuyahoga Falls Noise Ordinance.

In their report, The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) states:

“Although Mr. Knotts used a megaphone to be heard, his megaphone was not substantially louder than the noise of surrounding traffic.”

“The audio from Mrs. Knotts’ video recording demonstrates that Mr. Knotts’ megaphone was easily drowned out by the sound of the traffic on the nearby State Road and the escorts’ whistles and kazoos used to drown out his megaphone.”

ACLJ attorneys claim Knotts’ arrest clearly compromised his right to free speech, noting:

Police can’t prove Knotts’ volume violated local ordinance — the batteries in his megaphone died before their arrival.

Nebraska Becomes 26th State to Protect Girls and Women’s Sports
By: Jeff Johnston

Nebraska became the 26th state to protect girls and women’s K-12 and collegiate sports after Governor Jim Pillen signed “The Stand for Women Act” earlier this week.

The bill allows for all male, all female and coed teams in school sports.

Although many transgender and media activists call such legislation “transgender bans,” these commonsense laws don’t even mention transgenderism.

They are grounded in science, defining male and female based on reproductive capacity, not spurious gender ideology.

Alliance Defending Freedom Legal Counsel Erica O’Connell commended the legislature and governor for “passing this critical bill,” adding:

“Letting men intrude on women and girls sports teams is an invasion of privacy, a threat to their safety, and a denial of the real biological differences between the sexes.”

“Nebraska is right to ensure that female athletes of all ages have a fair and level playing field and protect the safety and dignity of women and girls.”

Legislative Bill 89 originally included provisions restriction school restrooms and locker rooms based on sex, but those were removed to assure the bill’s passage.

The Nebraska Examiner reported that state Sen. Merv Riepe, who objected to sex-segregated facilities being mandated by the legislature, said, “I did not run for office to become part of the ‘Nebraska State Potty Patrol.’”
