Friend --
Systemic racism in our policing system has been left unaddressed for far too long.
Democrats, led by the Congressional Black Caucus, introduced a sweeping police reform bill called the Justice in Policing Act, which would make common-sense changes to hold police officers who break the law accountable, address unchecked bias, change the culture of law enforcement, and lay the groundwork for trust between law enforcement and our communities.
Mark Warner is proud to be an original co-sponsor of the Justice in Policing Act, but it's critical that we demonstrate strong public support for these reforms so we can pass this bill. Will you add your name as a supporter?

There's no one policy that will fix our policing system, but the Justice in Policing Act is a good first step toward concrete changes.
This critical legislation will:
Create a national standard for use of force;
Ban neck holds, chokeholds, and similar excessive force tactics;
Ban no-knock warrants;
Requires the use of body cams for police;
Require local police departments to send data on the use of force to the federal government;
Reform racial profiling training for police officers;
Create a grant program that would allow state attorneys general to create an independent process to investigate misconduct or excessive use of force; and
Limit qualified immunity, making it easier to hold police officers who violate the law accountable for their actions.
Proposals put forth by Republicans aren't going far enough. We need to show huge support for the Justice in Policing Act so we can take steps toward meaningful reform. Will you sign our petition and show your support for the Justice in Policing Act?
