June is Gun Violence Awareness Month |
We’re spending the month spreading the word about safe gun storage. Join us in highlighting one of the most effective ways to prevent tragedies caused by gun violence. Gun safety starts with safe storage and safe storage saves lives.
Help us spread this life-saving message on social media, in conversations with friends, neighbors, and throughout your community. |
The Center team has been busy promoting safe storage. See our latest work. |

Counseling That Saves Lives |
We’re sharing a new resource for clinicians who want to discuss safe firearm storage and more with their patients. Lethal means safety counseling enables health care professionals to work alongside their at-risk patients and their families to find solutions that temporarily reduce access to guns. |
Our new webpage gives evidence-based reasonings on why lethal means safety counseling is both important and effective. Clinicians have a critical opportunity to engage at-risk patients and support them in temporarily limiting access to firearms during periods of elevated risk. Studies show that 82% of adolescent firearm suicides involve an unsecure firearm belonging to a family member. Discussing safe storage options with at-risk patients can help mitigate firearm access during a time of crisis.
Check out the Center’s new webpage for more information on how lethal means counseling can save lives. |
