Friend, my name is Jake Wheeler, and I helped lead the Americares response on the ground when Russia first invaded Ukraine.
We met people who had lost everything – families torn apart, homes destroyed and life plans upended.
One of those people was Yaryna (pictured above), a young Ukrainian refugee who fled to Poland when the conflict began. Yaryna escaped the violence, and, while she carried the trauma and grief of war with her, she immediately turned her attention toward helping other refugees, often working 12-hour shifts at an Americares-supported clinic.
Responding to everyone’s needs took a toll on her own health, and she soon experienced burnout and illness. But thanks to supporters like you, Yaryna received vital counseling and assistance that helped her begin to rebuild her life from the very clinic where she volunteered.
So many refugees like Yaryna need support. That’s why I’m personally asking: Will you rush a gift of $125 to help us reach our $25,000 goal by midnight? |
