This week, we are collecting messages of support to send our team in Minnesota. Please add your name and take this small act of kindness today before we send the card tomorrow. ➪
After the horrific attacks in Minnesota over the weekend, we expected lawmakers to rally behind our core values of nonviolence and democracy. Unfortunately, our hopes were dashed.
President Donald Trump: "I don’t really call him. I think the governor of Minnesota is so whacked out, I’m not calling him. Why would I call him?"
Senator Mike Lee: "Nightmare on Walz Street... This is what happens When Marxists don’t get their way."
Elon Musk: "The left has become a full blown domestic terrorist organization."
But you know what? We've always known who these people were:
bullies.
Last year, Governor and Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz showed us what leadership with compassion looked like. He proved that there still is and can be human decency in our country's political climate. Our mission isn't to just win elections and pass policy: it's also to make people's lives better — and we need that right now.
So damnit if the President and his party are using this moment to be bullies, because that doesn't change who we are, and that's, in Tim's own words, happy warriors! Because we're fighting so kids don't go hungry, we're fighting so parents have housing and jobs to raise a family, and we're fighting so the elderly and the sick can see a doctor without going into debt. Whatever other people say, no matter their title, doesn't change that, and when the Minnesota Governorship is on the ballot next year, or when Virginia and New Jersey's Governorship is on the ballot this November, we're going to take that fight to the ballot box where it belongs and we're going to win with a smile on our face and love in our heart.
