Hi friend,
At the end of next week, thousands of activists and campaigners from all around the world will arrive in Seville ahead of a critical United Nations conference. Lower-income countries have forced the debt crisis onto the agenda – but western governments have been trying to sabotage their calls for reform of the debt system.
One of the areas being discussed are new debt justice laws, like the one we are campaigning for in the UK. These are urgently needed to stop greedy private lenders from suing countries in crisis and dragging their feet during negotiations.
friend, now is the time to send a strong message to the government that they must support the efforts of lower-income countries by backing a debt justice law in the UK.

The Financing for Development conference is a once in ten-year opportunity for lower-income countries and campaigners to demand action on the debt crisis. But earlier this week, the US walked out of the talks and the EU distanced itself from parts of the agreement that call for action on the debt crisis.
It’s critical that the UK changes its own tune right now and starts supporting countries in crisis that are calling for action, instead of undermining them.
We’re in the worst debt crisis for thirty years, with fifty-four countries in crisis while private lenders reap billions in profit. It’s high time the government took action to support the calls of lower-income countries and introduce a debt justice law that would win justice for millions.

This is the biggest global debt movement in decades – not for years have so many people from all over the world come together to demand action on debt. It’s a big opportunity for us to make our voices heard and to support the efforts of lower-income countries demanding action.
Email your MP today, and help make this the year we Cancel Debt, Choose Hope.
In solidarity,
Wiz, Eva, Jerome, Zak and everyone at Debt Justice
