Dear John,
The Conflict Between Israel & Iran:
America’s closest ally, the nation of Israel is currently in a heated conflict with the world’s number one sponsor of terror, the nation of Iran. America’s stated foreign policy is that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, and Israel is effectively enforcing that policy.
Israel’s enemies are America’s enemies, and Israel has done a tremendous job reducing the threat to America and to the world of Hamas, Hezbollah, Syria, and now Iran. Israel can and will win this fight with Iran without direct U.S. involvement. America should unequivocally stand with and support our important ally, without unnecessarily engaging and escalating this conflict.
America should not and must not try to implement regime change in Iran. While it would be great if the people of Iran would rise up and overthrow the evil regime that has oppressed them these past 46 years, it is their decision whether to continue to live under such tyranny.
Trump on Illegal Alien Workers & More Chinese College Students:
In a troubling development last week, President Trump announced that he would stop ICE enforcement and deportation of illegal aliens working at farms, restaurants and hotels. This directly contradicted his campaign promise to deport all illegal aliens and undermined the work of those in his administration tasked with executing this objective. After tremendous criticism from many of his supporters, he has appeared to reverse course. President Trump has done an outstanding job of reducing the border invasion by some 99% during the past 5 months. However, there is a great threat to America on many levels from the millions of unvetted illegal aliens living in our country, whose first act on our soil was to break our laws.
President Trump also announced last week that he supported permitting 500,000 more CCP-loyal college students to study at America’s universities. No Chinese student comes to America without the approval of, coordination with, and loyalty to, the CCP (Chinese Communist Party). Why would we want more Chinese students studying STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) in America? Why would we let the CCP have greater influence on our college campuses, while enriching our most liberal, woke, anti-American institutions? President Trump has been the most effective president in identifying and confronting the threat that is the CCP. Inviting more CCP-loyal students here is not in America’s interests.
Trump-First vs. America-First:
I enthusiastically supported and voted for President Trump three times, in 2016, 2020, and 2024. And, I have agreed with the vast majority of his policies. However, like anyone else, it is important that he is challenged when he is wrong. That is the responsibility of so-called conservative media, and other elected Republican officials. It is wrong to be blindly loyal to any individual or political party, or to grant them the ability to decide for everyone what is “right”, “conservative”, “constitutional”, or “America first”.
The House Finally Votes to Cut Something:
After two-and-a-half years of Republican control of the House, they finally voted to cut something! Last week, Republicans passed a DOGE-recommended $9 billion rescissions package, consisting of an $8 billion reduction in borrowed foreign aid and a $1 billion reduction in borrowed funding for public broadcasting. While this only represents about 0.1% of the annual $7 trillion federal budget, it only passed 214-212, without a vote to spare. A total of 4 “Republicans” voted against it, along with all Democrats. It now awaits a vote in the Senate, where its fate is uncertain. Our $2 trillion annual budget deficit and our nearly $37 trillion in national debt is an existential threat to our country, and we must demand real action from our elected Republican officials.
