Lisa Blunt Rochester with scarf

Folks – a right-wing blogger once attacked me for using this scarf as a “political prop,” but this isn’t just any old scarf in my hands. This scarf is imprinted with the document that granted my great-great-great-grandfather the right to vote in 1867.

The significance of this is not lost on me – 157 years later, I became the first woman and person of color to represent Delaware in the Senate. And 157 years later, there were still many people who believed I couldn't break that glass ceiling.

But with your help, I made history; and I've spent my time in the Senate fighting for policies that will benefit the hard-working American people. Will you rush $25 or more today so that I can keep my work going strong as we take on the extreme MAGA movement?

It means so much to me that my sister Thea made the document that granted my great-great-great-grandfather the right to vote into a scarf.

The day I was sworn into the House of Representatives, I carried that scarf. It was surreal knowing how far my family had come. From being enslaved, to finally getting the right to vote, to having me be elected to represent the First State.

I also carried that scarf on the day of the January 6th insurrection. On such a dark day, my scarf served as a reminder that every effort to undermine our democracy has been met with voices of power and reason.

And I carried that scarf when I was sworn in to the Senate.

Just like my ancestors, I am committed to fighting for justice. If you’re with me, will you please chip in $25 so I have the resources I need to keep standing up for our rights against attacks from Trump and his MAGA cronies?
