And a Call to Action
Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when enslaved Black Americans in Galveston,
Texas finally learned they were free—more than two years after the Emancipation
Proclamation.
It’s a day of celebration. A day of reflection. And most of all—a reminder that
freedom delayed is freedom denied.
But the fight for racial justice and equality in America didn’t end in 1865. And
it didn’t end with voting rights, desegregation, or civil rights legislation
either.
It continues right now—as MAGA extremists try to silence voters, rewrite
history, and strip away hard-won rights in state after state.
That’s why the Protect Our Democracy Fund is committed to electing leaders who
fight for every American’s freedom—not just in word, but in law.
Leaders who defend voting rights.
Leaders who oppose whitewashing history in our schools.
Leaders who stand for equality, not extremism.
On Juneteenth, we honor the struggle for justice—and recommit to continuing that
fight.
Will you donate $15, $25, or whatever you can to support pro-democracy
candidates who are pushing back against hate and authoritarianism?
