As the only budget hawk on the King County Council, I’ve seen firsthand our county’s need for at least a moderate, if not conservative, pragmatic voice in the King County Executive’s office. King County residents deserve an Executive who will push back against the extreme downtown Seattle policies of raising taxes, defunding law enforcement, and refusing to address our homelessness crisis.
While some of the declared candidates have pretended to be opposed to higher taxes and attempted to claim a moderate mantle, the reality is they have a long history of supporting extreme tax hikes. This, along with the unfortunate array of personal issues that have taken center stage in the race for Executive, has convinced me that we deserve a better choice.
Derek is the only candidate officially endorsed by the King County Republican Party. As a successful businessman who has fought for our community for years, Derek is running a campaign focused on lessening the burden of high taxes and costs of living, while fully funding law enforcement to combat out-of-control crime.
Unfortunately, John Wilson is just another tax-and-spend politician who will be a do-nothing County Executive just like he’s been a do-nothing County Assessor for years. Don’t waste your vote on Wilson. Instead support the only conservative in this race. Vote Derek Chartrand!
In order to push back against the extreme politics of downtown Seattle, we, as King County voters, should unite behind a candidate who will fully fund our law enforcement agencies, establish reasonable standards for removing homeless encampments, and rein in ever-growing taxes and wasteful spending.
King County voters deserve a choice between the extreme activist-driven policies of downtown Seattle and responsible leadership. Derek is the only right-of-center candidate in this race who can make it to the general election and give voters that choice.
