John,

The fight for Black lives is undergoing an unprecedented moment in U.S. history. Waves of protests have taken the streets across the globe, where millions of people are expressing outrage at the murder of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and countless other Black people who have been killed by police and other forms of anti-black violence. These massive mobilizations will not stop until anything less than justice is served for all Black people.

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a day to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States and honor Black people’s unique contribution to the struggle for justice in the U.S. This day is a reminder that a better world is possible only if we come together and fight for it. Starting TODAY and throughout the weekend, join others across the country to celebrate Black lives and call for justice.

These events are a part of a grassroots multiracial and multigenerational coalition. The stakes are high for everyone. This coalition is demanding the end of racist policing and reinvesting our resources into good jobs, housing, healthcare, and climate action.

There is so much work that needs to be done. We must continue to lay a path towards liberation. This is about creating a society that cares, protects, and uplifts Black lives.
