John, Happy Juneteenth!
As the first Black Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania, I'm reflecting a lot today on the generations of Black Americans who came before me and fought for me to have the opportunities I have today.
I know that even in my grandparents' wildest dreams, they would not have imagined that their grandson would one day occupy the second-highest office in Pennsylvania. But I wouldn't be here without them.
It's this understanding that motivates me to make life better for everyone who will come after me. That's why I care so much about investing in our shared future.
We have come a long way as a country in our fight for racial equality, but we still have a long way to go. As we celebrate the wins we've achieved and practice gratitude today, we must also remember how we can support one another to create a better tomorrow.
I'm ready to fight for that in Pennsylvania. I promise to always stand up to injustice, wherever and whenever I see it.
Thank you, John.
Lt. Gov. Austin Davis
P.S. – If you can chip in to my re-election campaign today, my team and I would be incredibly grateful. Here's a link → https://a4pa.us/davis
