Hi there John,

Today, we honor Juneteenth — a powerful reminder of both how far we’ve come and how much further we must go in the pursuit of racial justice and true equality.

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were finally informed of their freedom.

Juneteenth is more than a historical moment. It is a celebration of Black resilience, culture, and ongoing liberation.

Here in Delaware County and across the country, we mark this day not only with festivities and reflection but with renewed commitment to building a community rooted in equity, justice, and opportunity for all.

So, John, let’s carry that spirit forward not just today, but every day, as we work together to dismantle systemic barriers and uplift every voice in our community.
