Dear John,
Today, we observe Juneteenth, an occasion to remember the past, acknowledge the present, and fight for the future.
The legacy of American chattel slavery persists in both overt and subtle forms, with systemic racism being intricately entangled in our country’s education, housing, health care, and criminal justice systems, in addition to other vital aspects of life.
Now more than ever, it is important that in commemorating those who came before us, we do not shy away from the reality that racial injustice is not a relic of the past.
Right now, from the White House to state houses across the country, there are politicians and their radical supporters actively engaging in a concerted campaign to drag our country backward and worsen inequality.
NOW is committed to fighting back and is on the frontlines of challenging anti-equality extremists. But we need supporters like you to help strengthen our actions.
That’s why I’m hoping we can count on you to make a gift of $25, $50, or more to NOW this Juneteenth. Your generosity will immediately be used to support our advocates and organizers who are mobilizing in communities across the country to grow our grassroots equality movement.
Racial equality has been a NOW core issue for nearly 60 years because we understand that there is no path to gender equality without fighting for racial justice. Today, our teams are:
-
Challenging efforts to dismantle diversity, equity, and inclusion programs that have given generations of women the opportunity to share their talents and contribute to advances in American life.
- Advocating for equal access to quality, affordable health care, which is essential to addressing the racial health gap.
-
Opposing voter suppression tactics aimed at keeping Black voters, particularly Black women, from having a say in our politics.
-
Pushing for an economy that works for all women while addressing the nuances that impact Black women and other women of color.
Whenever, wherever, and however racial injustice shows up, NOW is there to push back. But as opponents of equality grow more emboldened and increase their attacks, our advocates and organizers need more support from dedicated members of our community like you.
This Juneteenth, let our teams know that you have their backs in the fight for racial justice by making as generous a gift as you are able to NOW today.
