Mayor Lucas is dedicated to creating an inclusive Kansas City. His initiatives include:

- Increasing representation by appointing more women and individuals from underrepresented groups to city boards and commissions.
- Establishing the LGBTQ Commission to advise on policies affecting the LGBTQ community.
- Forming the Mayor’s Commission on Reparations to explore reparative measures for Black Kansas Citians.
- Raising the minimum wage for city employees to $17.35 per hour.
- Implementing a marijuana pardon program, granting clemency for low-level, non-violent offenses.
