Dear John,

As politicians in wealthy and powerful nations appeal to narrow self-interest and promote crude ‘us and them’ nationalism, several governments are cutting their Overseas Development Aid (ODA) funding and recalibrating their approaches to ‘international development’. We are asking our supporters to put people before politics and contribute whatever you can at this crucial time.

Policies like the Trump administration’s cuts to overseas development and humanitarian aid funding are already having a terrible impact on communities globally, leaving millions of people without access to essential services like healthcare, education, and emergency food assistance.

“The USAID freeze has…reversed decades of gains and progress in health. Government health services, including tuberculosis, malaria and HIV treatment, have been interrupted and patients taking medication were abruptly left without treatment." Dr Tadesse Kassaye Woldetsadik, Health Poverty Action, Head of Programmes Africa

Please make a regular monthly donation and help to sustain vital health initiatives globally.

In the aftermath of the decision to restrict US funding for ‘international development’, the UK, Switzerland, France and Holland have also announced cuts to aid spending.

From the suspension of funding for key health, research and social development initiatives, to the potential collapse of vital organisations and programmes, there is great uncertainty around how these changes will impact people’s lives.

We are asking our supporters to make a regular donation, so we can continue working with health workers, activists and ordinary people globally to build healthier, more prosperous communities, even if politicians are unwilling to support these efforts.

Please make a regular monthly donation and help communities keep families and individuals healthy and safe.

“Any support…from individual donors could help fill the sudden gaps created as a result of aid cuts, where life-saving support could continue targeting the most needy.” – Dr Tadesse Kassaye Woldetsadik, Health Poverty Action, Head of Programmes for Africa

Over the coming years, millions more people are likely to have their health systems completely destabilised. Our work in marginalised communities Africa, Asia and Latin America means we are well placed to bridge gaps other organisations can no longer perform.

By making a regular donation, you are contributing to building and sustaining positive change, one community at a time.

Warm regards,

Siaffa Bunduka,

Supporter Engagement Manager
