🍎 Free school meals - To help tackle child poverty, we’ve long campaigned for an extension of free school meals. This June, the Government finally announced that any child in England whose parents receive Universal Credit will be eligible from next year.
☀️ Solar panels on all new-build homes - This month, the Government accepted the provisions of Max Wilkinson MP’s ‘Sunshine Bill’ to install solar power on every new-build home to help tackle the climate crisis and lower bills.
✈️ Youth Mobility Scheme - Allowing young people to work and travel across Europe would help them gain valuable life experiences and skills. This May, the Government finally agreed to work towards a version of this.
⚖️ Protecting victims of domestic abuse and sexual offences - Last month, the Government accepted Josh Babarinde MP’s call to formally recognise domestic abuse crimes in law, to better protect victims. They also agreed to make court transcripts free for victims of rape and sexual violence, following Sarah Olney MP’s long campaign on behalf of one of her constituents.
🐶 Ending puppy smuggling - Danny Chambers MP’s Animal Welfare Bill is set to become law after receiving cross-party support. The Bill will close the loophole through which mutilated pets are imported into the UK under the guise of travelling with their owners. | |
