John, Juneteenth commemorates the pivotal moment when enslaved people in Texas finally learned of their freedom – more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, which ended slavery in the United States.

But Donald Trump and the MAGA right are working to indoctrinate the next generation by teaching them a false version of history.

They don’t want anybody to know about the contributions of Black leaders, activists and heroes.

They don’t want anyone to know about the horrors of slavery, Jim Crow, and the legacies of racism that continue to this day.

They create these false narratives because they make it easier for Trump and his cronies to consolidate power, undermine resistance, and control Americans.

We can’t let that happen. We must honor Rep. Jackson Lee’s legacy and DEMAND that our history, including the enduring legacy of Juneteenth, is protected for generations to come.
