It has been clear that the ADU program needed changes to curb the abuses and loopholes exploited by a small number of problematic developers. I seconded the motion to approve a scaled limit on the number of allowed ADUs and JADUs in single-family zones, to balance our need to incentivize affordable units with the clear frustrations from San Diegans. Now, the package will be submitted to HCD to determine if the changes are consistent with state law. | San Diego earned international recognition with an “A” rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project for our leadership in reducing emissions and preparing our city for climate impacts. This milestone marks significant progress. We will continue advancing mitigation efforts and building resilience to protect our communities. | In observance of Juneteenth, a day commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, all City of San Diego administrative offices, libraries, recreation centers, and pools will be closed on Thursday, June 19, and will resume normal operations on Friday, June 20. Parking meter enforcement and street sweeping will be suspended on June 19. Curbside waste collection will continue as scheduled.
