** DEAR FRIENDS,
------------------------------------------------------------
We are still going through all of the footage from the steer tailing event that occurred last Sunday in Rochelle, IL. where at least a dozen animals were injured.
One horse was injured. Two steers suffered leg injuries. At least nine steers were degloved, which means a portion of their tail is violently and literally ripped off their body.
We saw no sign of anyone from Animal Control. The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office refused to respond to multiple calls alerting them to the plight of the animals. The Ogle County State’s Attorney is refusing to do anything.
For three years we exposed the corruption of Boone County, and that criticism was completely deserved. We truly believed that we had hit the basement when it came to cruelty, cowardice and corruption. Then, Boone County Sheriff Scott Yunk appointed an investigator, and things started changing for the better in Boone County.
Creep winds up to hit horse
Horse hit near eye
Creep makes obscene gesture to drone afterwards
Now, however, Ogle County seems intent on taking Boone County’s “crown” for being the very bottom of the pile. Ogle County is hitting a new low, which is of course exactly why the steer tailers are going there.
The profound abuse is thoroughly video documented, and is just as completely indefensible. Now it is time for the animal protection movement to stand up and show what it is made of.
The law has failed, the media has failed, and our elected officials have failed. Our animal friends are depending on us. Losing is not an option.
