Protect Workers and Communities & Uphold Safety Standards
The Trump administration is trying to weaken safety regulations at liquefied methane gas (LNG) export facilities — putting communities at risk to give Big Oil and Gas a payday.
In April, the Trump administration announced its plan to rewrite safety rules for liquefied methane gas (LNG) export terminals. The current standards are urgently out of date, but instead of strengthening them to protect people from dangerous LNG export infrastructure, the Trump administration plans to weaken regulations to benefit industry.
This is a devastating step in the wrong direction. Undermining LNG export safety standards would have disastrous consequences for the frontline communities most harmed by fossil fuel development. We need to speak out against this plan that would put communities at risk to give Big Oil and Gas a payday.
Since day one, President Trump has catered to his Big Oil and Gas donors at the expense of people. Now, they’re attempting to undermine key safety regulations meant to protect workers and communities.
For years, Big Oil executives have pushed to expand and deregulate LNG exports, prioritizing profits over our safety. We simply cannot afford more harmful LNG projects, so it’s up to us to speak out.
