Hi John,

Just a couple of weeks ago, I rode 80 miles — from San Francisco to Santa
Cruz — as part of the AIDS/LifeCycle ride to raise funds for two
incredible LGBTQ+ organizations: the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the
Los Angeles LGBT Center.

Participating in this ride is one of the most meaningful things I’ve done
as a public servant. Because it’s about more than a bike ride. It’s about
the people who passed when there was no treatment. It’s about protecting
future generations. Fighting back against stigma, discrimination, and
indifference.

And this Pride Month, when LGBTQ+ rights are under attack across the
country, this fight is more important and more challenging than ever.

I’m fighting for equal rights and protections against discrimination.
Because your sexual orientation or gender identity should not determine
your worth, your pay, your status in society, your right to be a parent,
or start a business, or get a job.

These rights are under attack by the Trump administration. GOP leaders are
attacking the transgender community, specifically targeting trans kids.
They’re cutting funding for the emergency suicide hotline for LGBTQ+
youth. They even want to rename the USNS Harvey Milk.

We must stay in this fight. Not just during Pride month, but every single
day.

From protecting trans youth to expanding access to HIV prevention and
care, to pushing back on hateful rhetoric and dangerous legislation, I’m
all in. But I can’t do it alone.

fighting for the LGBTQ community.

I’m proud that you’re my senator and that you’re supporting LGBTQ+ young
people!
